  • 1984: Awarded PhD degree (Dr.-Ing) on ‘aeration induced through bubbles and development of a mechanism for the aeration process’
  • 1986: Chairman of the Department of ‘river engineering and hydraulics of the river beds’ with specialization in ‘mathematical models in channel flow’ in the Federal Waterways Engineering and Research Institute, Karlsruhe.
  • 1990: Group leader (group: hydraulic engineering/hydraulics) at the Federal Waterways Engineering and Research Institute, Karlsruhe and Berlin.
  • 1991: Representative for the German Ministry for Transport at the international commission for protection of river Elbe (IKSE)

  • 1997 – today: Baden Württemberg- State project for flood information for the river Neckar, Grant 3,5 million € (IKONE-Integrated Conception of the Neckar catchment area)
  • 2005 – 2008: BMBF-RIMAX Project: Operational Management of flood under the extreme conditions within the Central Elbe, 5 sub projects, Grant 2 million €
  • 2000 – 2008: BMBF-Karst Cave Project/Java-Indonesia (Survey, Construction and Operation of the first underground reservoir in a karst cave, with micro hydropower system; 9 sub-projects, Grant 5,5 million €; industrial input 2,5 million €
  • March 2010: Official start of operation of cave water supply system
  • 2008 – 2013: BMBF-IWRM-Integrated Water Resources Management in Middle Java/Gunung Kidul-Indonesia; 15 sub-projects, Grant 6 million €
  • 2010: Feasibility study in a carst area in North Vietnam/Ha Giang – decentral water supply under extreme conditions
