Using the single-cross hybrid method, scientists from the Maize Research Institute (Vietnamese Academy of Agricultural Sciences) have studied and successfully created the maize hybrid TC14-1.
The maize hybrid TC14-1 has been recognized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development as a technical advance for the agricultural production in the Red River Delta, midland and mountainous areas in the North since April 2017. The hybrid has a wide range of adaptation; good growth and development; ability of intensive farming; resistances to pests, drought, and cold. It has durable green foliage; the leaf and stem after harvested can be used as a food source for livestock. Experimental results in some provinces (Son La, Tuyen Quang, Yen Bai, Phu Tho, Hai Duong, Hung Yen, Thai Binh) showed that the maize hybrid TC14-1 had a yield potential of 10 -12 tons/ha.
