From the D4 and D6 parent lines, scientists from the Crops Research and Development Institute, Vietnam National University of Agriculture have successfully cross-bred a hybrid maize named VNUA69.
The results have shown that VNUA69 has good growth and development; high uniformity; stable leaf color; growth time from sowing to harvesting, that is, 68-72 days in the autumn-winter crop and 81-85 days in the spring crop; good resistance to large leaf spot and small leaf spot diseases; corn diameter of 5-5.5 cm, and its length of 18-20 cm; average yield of fresh corn at 117.6 quintals per hectare with good quality. With these advantages, VNUA69 maize variety has been recognized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development for production since January 2018.
